Electric Tiki's Classic Heroes Collection #15 CAPTAIN ACTION!

Well here he is folks, one of our favorite heroes from the 60's is back, yes its Captain Action himself! If your like me, you will remember the many hours of joy and excitement this Character brought to us as kids... those where the days. What a licensing dream deal that must of been, the Captain Action doll could not only change into Batman's costume, but also Spiderman's too, Green Hornet and Flash Gordon as well, you practically had the best of all the comic universes available to you! Check out the history and a great rundown of characters here. Then there was the DC comic book series that ran for five issues illustrated by three titans in the field, Irv Novick, Wally Wood and Gil Kane. It's their version that inspired me while doing this sculpt. We have Joe Ahern and Ed Catto to thank for the resurgence of Captain Action in present times. They are the license holders of the character and aside from this sculpt they have a slew of activities planned and lined up for the coming year... check out thier colorful and cool website here to find out the latest news which include a new comic book series from publisher Joe Gentile (a Captain Action fan himself) at Moonstone Books, a reproduction of the old Aurora Model Kit and even a Mego sized doll version of ol' Cap! This sneak peak of the statue will be produced by Electric Tiki and can eventually be ordered through Sideshow Collectibles. Join in the fun and be on the look out for CAPTAIN ACTION !

Recently, good friend and well known movie critic Leonard Maltin asked me to do a demonstration on "Sculpting Donald" for the release of the latest Chronological Donald DVD, Volume 3. It's part of the Bonus features on Disc 2. Above are some screen captures from the interview... The DVD itself features the most prolific character of “Walt’s Fab Five,” the short-tempered but hilarious Donald Duck in 31 solo shorts from 1947 through 1950. Bonus materials include: • “The Many Faces of Donald Duck”: A retrospective look at Donald’s career including insight from Tony Anselmo, Disney animator and the current voice of Donald • “Sculpting Donald”: Sculptor Ruben Procopio discusses the challenges of creating a 3D model of a 2D character • “Donald Duck on the Mickey Mouse Club”: an Easter Egg Hunt for all 10 variations of the Donald Duck gag at the end of the popular show’s opening titles You can order your set here!
